Katie’s practice focuses on civil litigation and insurance defense. She serves as Chair of the firm’s Torts and Insurance practice group.

Katie’s experience spans a wide variety of cases, including insurance defense, personal injury, premises liability, and more. Prior to joining Sturgill Turner, she worked in private practice in a regional defense firm, and had prosecuted more than five hundred felony cases as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Fayette County. She is a contributing author to Kentucky Instructions to Juries (Criminal).

After her graduation from Centre College with degrees in government and Spanish, Katie spent a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer working for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), an organization which serves to represent abused and neglected children in the court system. She is a member of the Leadership Lexington Class of 2022-23.

  • In addition to advising clients in civil litigation, Katie is an active member of the Bluegrass Claims Association, an organization of insurance claims professionals and professionals from related industries who meet to advance and support the insurance industry, as well as to raise funds for the Bluegrass community. She has been a member of the BGCA Board of Directors since 2020, and currently serves as Vice President. She also serves on the board of the Bluegrass Community Foundation BGCF365 initiative, and on the Steering Committee of the Junior Achievement Leadership Lexington Youth Program.
