Andy Yocum Elected to Fayette Co. Bar Association Board
The Fayette County Bar Association Board of Directors has elected Sturgill Turner attorney Andrew M. Yocum to a 2-year term, beginning May 1, 2023.
Founded in 1926, the FCBA serves close to 1,100 attorneys in Lexington and Fayette County (Ky.) and works to meet their professional and collegial needs. The Board works closely with association staff to provide continuing education opportunities for attorneys, welcome new attorneys to the legal field, recognize bar association members for outstanding work, coordinate community outreach programs, and host networking events.
“I’m excited and honored to join the FCBA Board of Directors,” said Andy. “The FCBA and its staff provide outstanding service and support to the Lexington and Fayette County legal community, and I appreciate the opportunity to be part of that.”
Andy’s legal practice focuses on civil litigation and insurance defense in the firm’s Torts and Insurance practice group. His experience spans a wide variety of cases, including personal injury defense, commercial automobile defense, premises liability defense, professional liability defense, and defense of civil rights claims against government officials and agencies. Prior to joining Sturgill Turner, he worked in private practice at two Lexington based firms servicing Central and Eastern Kentucky. He also served as Assistant Fayette County Attorney, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony charges in Fayette District Court and represented the Commonwealth of Kentucky in front of the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Kentucky.
As a local bar, the FCBA strives to meet the needs of Lexington area attorneys. The purposes of the association are: to promote the efficient administration of justice and the constant improvement of the law; to elevate the standards of integrity, honor, and courtesy in the legal profession; to cultivate and promote a spirit of collegiality among its members; to promote the code of professional conduct; to provide services to our members; and to establish closer relationships and cooperation with the Kentucky Bar Association and through it with the American Bar Association.
